Grade 5 - Literacy

Hello Everyone,

This Term the Grade 5's have written some amazing narratives. I have provided some extracts from some of their work below.

Introduction to Julien Baulch's narrative:

" Life for Charlie was hard. He was kind hearted and very respectful of everyone and everything around him, but sadly his mother, Natrissa, was very sick and his father, Bob, was a failed inventor. It was only the three of them living in a tiny wooden cottage, which had a big backyard. Bob's Workshop was positioned in the middle of the yard. It had all the supplies you needed to invent something useful, but no matter how hard he tried, Bob's inventions were a total disaster. One cold night when Charlie and his father were having some tea, they came up with a fantastic idea. Their idea was to create a cure for their deathly ill mother… "

Introduction to Belma Abidovic's narrative:

"One windy Autumn morning Amanda and her younger brother were at the park near their house playing hide and seek. Amanda was looking for her brother everywhere. After about ten minutes of no luck, Amanda looked over at the bushes at the end of the park. They looked really scary. Amanda moved closer and suddenly saw something in the tree that was shiny and sparkling in the wind. She crept up to the tree and reached out for the sparkly object. 'What is it?' she whispered to herself. She picked it up to examine it and realised it was some sort of key. Amanda looked around to find a chest or something to unlock, until suddenly, behind the bushes, she found an old rusty door. Amanda thought to herself, 'hmmmm, this looks like a perfect fit'. So Amanda place the key into the hole and opened the door. She went inside, but forgot to take the key with her, just then a gust of wind came and slammed the door shut!"

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Dearest Parents, Guardians and Students,

It saddens me to tell you all that I will be absent the whole of Term 3 due to health issues. The medical issues have given me no choice but to take a leave of absence in order to make steps in a positive recovery. I will; however, (insallah!) be back in Term 4 to continue teaching all of my amazing students. I would like to take this time to thank each and every one of you for all your support, patience and understanding. Wishing you all a lovely term break and a fantastic Term 3. I look forward to seeing you all again in Term 4.

Kindest Regards,
Fusun Tufekci
